Absolutely stunning, one-of-a-kind, Murano glass filigrana (filigree) vase sculpted into the form of a tropical fish. This is a highly detailed and very complex piece incorporating multiple sheets of extremely fine filigrana glass and perfectly sculpted details. This excellent piece measures 27 centimeters by 34 centimeters; 11 inches by 13.5 inches.
About filigrana (filigree) Murano glass: To create the fine lines of color in this piece, slender rods of transparent and colored glass are laid side-by-side and melted together. The resulting multi-lined sheet of molten glass is then rolled into a cylinder and sculpted into the form desired by the glass master. In the case of this wonderful piece, multiple sheets of extremely fine filigrana glass, with the lines running in different directions, have been joined together.
