Elegant handmade Murano glass vase sparkling with flecks of gold and silver. This refined piece measures 30 centimeters by 24 centimeters; 12 inches by 9.5 inches.
Perhaps nowhere can the evolution of Murano glass design and decoration be observed so well as by viewing vases and vessels. Though sculpting glass into vessels is a practice as old as glass work itself, the colors, shapes, sizes and textures have constantly developed under the hands of Murano glass masters whose famous techniques of decorating vases go well beyond painting and carving to include: murrine/millefiore glass; glass of a thousand flowers, sommerso glass; layered glass with smaller glass sculptures embedded within, scavo glass; acid-washed textured glass, incalmo glass; multiple layered colors of glass, and, filigrana; glass with fine lines of color. The flecks of gold in this piece are created by rolling molten glass over very fine gold leaf. As the glass is blown, fine particles of gold and silver disperse throughout the glass.
