Stunning Murano glass sculpture of a pink flamingo. The incredible "feather" details within this modern sculpture of a flamingo are achieved using the filigrana (filigree) glass technique developed on Murano during the 16th century. This is a large piece measuring 61 centimeters by 37 centimeters; 24 inches by 14.5 inches.
About filigrana (filigree) Murano glass: To create the fine lines of color in this piece, slender rods of transparent and colored glass are laid side-by-side and melted together. The resulting multi-lined sheet of molten glass is then rolled into a cylinder and sculpted into the form desired by the glass master.
