A beautiful example of modern Murano glass goblets, the finely sculpted stem of this piece features a lovely multi-colored leaf in a unique red, blue and gold design. This one-of-a-kind piece measures 29 centimeters by 12 centimeters; 11.5 inches by 5 inches.
Murano glass goblets, also called "tipetti" or calici became famous during the baroque period when the glass masters of Murano responded to competition from other European glass producers by infusing their work with ever more intricate combinations of shapes and colors. Murano glass goblets with intricately sculpted stems, often including swans, snakes or flowers, were coveted by nobility throughout Europe. This piece is an excellent example of the modernization of Murano glass tipetti; the designs of the stems constantly evolve.
