Murano glass mirrors have been internationally renowned for their beauty and elegance since the late 1600's and continue to adorn many of the most famous buildings in the world. The world famous Hall of Mirrors in Louis XIV palace at Versailles includes the work of several Murano glass masters who were recruited to the French court in the late-1600's for the purpose of realizing that project and training the French guild of mirror manufacturers. Even today, each elegantly designed, hand-sculpted and hand-carved Murano glass mirror represents nearly 600 years of scientific and artistic advances made by the Murano glass masters. These gorgeous pieces combine cristallo Veneziano, clear glass invented on Murano in the mid-1400's, the technique of perfectly smoothing glass, invented on Murano in the mid-1500's, diamond-point engraving introduced on Murano in the late 1500's, and the famous Murano decorative style from the 1600's of adding individually sculpted flowers and leaves. The Ex Chiesa di Santa Chiara collection of Murano glass mirrors, "specchi", includes ideal pieces for any room in any home, from small intricately-carved hallway mirrors to large multi-dimensional and sculpted mirrors suitable to the grandest of foyers. These are a few examples of what we have in store.
